What’s Behind Your Heat Pumps?

RSIhvac-heat-pump-reversing-valve-shocking-truthUse of natural gas vs heat pump. the right one for you may depend on where you live. if you live in a cold climate a heat pump may not be as efficient as natural gas furnace. the use of a heat pump is not always the economical choice. So where do you live? heat pumps run on electric, so If your electric rates are high you may be losing money on your heat pump when natural gas could prove to be more economical. electric prices fluctuate and so do natural gas prices. electric is more polluting than natural gas. electric has to use more natural gas to create the least amount of power to your heat in your home. so choose properly and you will be warm.

Heat Exchangers are used in a variety of everyday and specialty items that you could see around your home or work. They are essential for transferring heat from one part of the mechanism to another for heating and cooling needs. Over time, build up of deposits on the heat exchanger will take affect. Through a process known as fouling the heat produced will reduce gradually. This problem however can be prevented with proper care.

With the help of various Goodway’s products the problem is avoided and can potentially save you energy consumption. The products are also safe on a variety of materials and will elongate the life of your equipment.

Don’t Skip Step on Installing New HVAC System!

RSIhvac-oversized-air-conditioning-system-massive-enormous-condenser-texasThe main thing to remember when installing heating and air conditioning units is the size. Though large units may be unsightly and somewhat inconvenient, the fact is that they are set in proportion to the home or building. If the system is set up correctly and in a timely fashion, temperature spikes can easily be prevented. The HVAC contractor must be sure all measurements are accurate. Also, they must be certain to check the air flow and pressure balances.

ENERGY STAR properties can now be considered as well. Understanding what is needed for the system, along with checking the physical properties and function, the HVAC conductor can be sure the owner will be very satisfied.

There are many reasons to make sure your boiler is up to standards. An efficient boiler will not only help you cut down on your monthly bills but will also help to reduce greenhouse emissions from your facility. Buying a energy star qualified boiler is one way to make sure you get the most savings and benefits out of your boiler. One thing many people forget is to make sure that there boiler is clean. Over time soot and ash can build up in a boiler and cause reduced efficiency. To combat this problem you can use brushes or a liquid descaler to help clear soot and ash out of your boiler. You should always remember to perform regular maintenance on your boiler.

A More Efficient HVAC System

English: A central ventilation tube and vent. ...

Every business owner is fully aware that one of their steepest of expenses, is the energy bill. The balance, paid to energy companies can be annoyingly astronomical, but many may be surprised to know that the levels of intense electrical energy usage has fallen by as much as 40 percent, between 1980 and today’s explosion in the number of electronic devices. Modern businesses can credit the upgrades in construction, lighting and especially in the efficiency of today’s HVAC systems. Proper care of today’s ventilation and heating systems is a great means of lowering that terrible business energy bill and at the same time, such proaction saves the company’s funds, without any unwanted sacrifices.

Should You Install Dry R22 Systems or Not?

300px-Central_air.svg_1

The basic role of HVAC contractors is more than that of a salesperson within the heating and air conditioning field. Their job is designed to provide their clients, who have questions regarding repairs, partial replacement, or entirely upgrading their present system. Older models may be operating through being charged by R22 refrigerants, even though new models can no longer be produced, such as these due to their efficiency ratings, issued by the EPA, but consumers who own these older models shouldn’t be pressured into total replacement of their heating and cooling system unless total replacement is their actual idea. Not all may be able to afford such total replacement costs. These concerns are those that the HVAC contractor should listen to, from their customers, rather than spooking a desired sale from them.

Wise and Legal HVAC System Installation

yeloIn the state of Texas there are many legal and safety issues surrounding the installation of a new heating and air unit. This makes it extremely important that homeowners only have licensed and experienced contractors install their HVAC systems.

Not only is it illegal in the state of Texas to install an HVAC system without a license it is also very dangerous. Homeowners also assume a legal responsibility for the unlicensed worker and the work that was done. But the upside to hiring a licensed HVAC contractor to install the unit is that the homeowner will have peace of mind knowing that the work was done properly and safely.

Having a Healthy Facility Environment

Indoor air quality

Indoor air quality (Photo credit: mag3737)

Indoor air quality, or IAQ, in the workplace is something that often fails to receive the attention it deserves. Far too few people realize that indoor air is frequently even more polluted than outdoor air. A recent article by Kelly Robinson, posted on FacilityManagement.com, highlights the relationship between IAQ at work and rates of asthma. Robinson, citing the World Health Organization, states that 33 million people are afflicted with asthma as a direct result of their exposure to the gases, dust and fumes breathed in at work. Those 33 million cases represent nearly 10 percent of all asthma cases worldwide.

To combat this problem, facilities operators must take care to clean their premises well, which means not just doing enough so that “it looks clean,” but instead taking the time to measure bacteria levels to determine whether the place is adequately clean. HEPA certified processes and products for cleaning are highly recommended and are the best way to ensure that the workplace environment’s contributions to rates of asthma is drastically reduced.

The Importance of Mechanical Ventilation to SPF Contractors

Many people fail to realize just how important mechanical ventilation is to airtight homes. When a house is airtight, it is much more likely that indoor toxins linger for long periods of time in the home. Mechanical ventilation is fundamental in drastically reducing the volatile organic compounds (VOC’s) effecting air quality.

Any good spray foam contractor (SPF) knows the risks associated with airtight homes, and should suggest mechanical ventilation with spray foam to clients. They always should inform the client of all these factors associated. Should the client decline mechanical ventilation with spray foam, a liability waiver should be given to the client to sign.

Climate Action Plan: President Obama’s Environmental Proposal

climate_changeOn Tuesday, June 25, 2013 President Barack Obama released a new action plan proposal concerning Climate. The “Climate Action Plan” is a series of initiatives that the Obama Administration will pursue aimed to combat climate change. The climate action plan focuses on three major initiatives including adapting to the impacts of climate change, cutting greenhouse gas emissions, and working with the international community to address the issue on a global scale.

What is perhaps most controversial about this action plan is that a majority of the proposed actions will not require the approval of Congress. Critics believe the plan does not go far enough to address climate change, however supporters feel this is as much as the President can do about the issue in the short term.
